Outside View: Security at the World Series
This is an excellent article related to the current state of security in public arenas (i.e., Olympics, World Series). The author (Bruce Schneier is well known in the world of Security. Interestingly, he proposes that technology is not the best answer, but instead suggests that "A few hundred plainclothes policemen, walking around the stadium and watching for anything suspicious, will provide more security against terrorism than almost anything else". This is definitely worth a read as it may get you to think "outside the box". Go check it out here.

Fighting Fire with Fire: Designing a "Good" Computer Virus
I received an email concerning this article over the weekend. Apparently the author had seen my most recent article "So Many Worms, So Little Time" and thought I'd enjoy this as a follow-up. Well, he was right!

So Many Worms, So Little Time.
Let's face it; the Internet is a dangerous place, and it's not getting any better. Statistics show a rapid increase in the rate of Internet-based attacks. The ability of attackers to rapidly compromise large numgers of system poses a "real and present danger" to the overall security of the Internet. A thousand zombie hosts can cause a lot of damage, but the damage that can be caused by the tens of thousands that can be taken over by an Internet worm are staggering.
